Airtime top-up feature of telebirr allows you to top-up for your own or another persons’ service number through telebirr system using different channels such as Web, APP, USSD and SMS. Registered customers can top-up their mobile service number using their telebirr account.

Cash-In at Agent
- Request initiated from customer to cash in “X” amount of ETB
- Choose menu “Cash in”, then input:
- Customer’s MSISDN,
- Amount, and
- Agent PIN
- Submit cash in request
- Moving funds between Customer MM Accounts and agent MM account
- Apply Charging and Commission

Test
Cash-In
It enables TeleBirr users to exchange physical cash with equivalent electronic money that results an increase in the wallet account balance. Once a customer makes a cash in, s/he can transfer e-money to other customers, pay utility bill, buy goods at merchant, and so on by using the e-money.
Cash-out
It enables customers to withdraw money flexibly from their e-money account or sent money from others. An unregistered customer will receive the voucher via SMS automatically when they get e-money. After that, the unregistered customer can withdraw cash at agent or ethio telecom shop by using the voucher he/she received.
Buy Air time (Top-up)
It enables customers to top-up their mobile service number or others using their TeleBirr e-money account or over the counter.
Ethio Bill Payment
It enables customers to pay Ethio telecom bills using their TeleBirr e-money account or over the counter
Domestic money transfer
It allows people to send or receive money to or from any other mobile phone user across the country. Both registered and unregistered customers can transfer e-money to other users using TeleBirr account or OTC.
International remittance
It enables TeleBirr customers to receive money from abroad. Ethio telecom will cooperate with international money transfer operators (MTO) to allow customers in other countries to transfer money to customers in the TeleBirr system through MTO. Both registered and unregistered TeleBirr customers can receive international remittance.
Cross border payment
Any payment across borders via mobile money platforms that includes salary to employees, donation to beneficiaries, payables to suppliers, prizes to customers, utility settlements, etc.
Bulk payment
It supports organizations to initiate and transfer money to customers/beneficiaries by bulk in real time. Organizations must be registered for bulk payment account and have sufficient balance in their trust fund account
Payment for goods & Services
Allows customers to pay for the goods they purchased and services they get. Customers can pay physically or online for purchasing tickets, groceries, in store items, government and business services.
Utility Bill Payment
Allows an individual customer to pay bills to organizations through the TeleBirr account. Typical applications include paying water, electricity, gas, insurance, and tuition.
Mobile ticketing
It is a convenient way to purchase, receive and validate tickets via mobile phone. It enables customers to use TeleBirr and purchase tickets for taxi rides, local flights, train, city bus, long-distance, and the like.
In Store/Proximity Payments
It enables a simpler, faster, and secure shopping experience for TeleBirr customers. Customers can make quick payments via a merchant POS machine or transfer to a merchant account or with a simple scan of a QR code on their phones. It enables business owners to collect payments on the till and use the money collected to make other transactions directly from their till.
Remote/Online Payments
Enables users to seamlessly and securely transact when shopping online using their phones. It is a service that supports payment for merchants online via merchant web or app.
