Types of Short Code Service & Requirements

Ethio telecom will deliver short code value added services on three modalities i.e. Mobile Originated, Mobile Terminated and subscription based.

1.   Requirement for Short Code Services:

Business License:

  • Renewed or New Trade License and Registration
  • Renewed or New VAS License
  • TIN Number
  • VAT Certificate
  • House Rent or Proof of Ownership     

Legality Status:

  • Availing Article & Memorandum of Association for Share Company
  • Letter of Agreement from certified professional or patent right (if needed)  

Capital Requirement:

  • Minimum capital amount required for VAS business partnership is ETB 100,000

Number & composition of Employee:

  • General Manager
  • Professional Content or Service Translator
  • Professional IT
  • Professional Office Administration & Customer Care

Company Profile & Experience

  • Registered Operational Office with Official phone number and e-mail address (In case of address change, notify via official letter stating the new address)
  • Summary of the partner work experience in telecom business
  • Prospective authenticated partnership agreement (if any)
  • Company setup & Organizational structure:
  • Business Administrations & Operational Management
  • Staff Resources & brief CV of business & technical staff members.
  • The Qualification of the management (General Management)

Service Proposal:

  • Brief description of the business to offered
  • Clear description of content source and how to get the contents to be used
  • Clearly describe the possible benefits of the services
  • List of service with samples of 30 SMS for each services & all auto reply SMS
  • Clear description of the service tariff & frequency of service release

Technical Capacity:

  • The technical knowledge & solution provisioning to coordinate with telecom system

Customer Support:

  • Partner shall present a clear & organized team to provide end to end system and operational support
  • One Account Manager with business background
  • One focal person for customer support with dedicated contact number

Marketing Strategy:

  • Partner Marketing promotions strategy
  • Projected Revenue of the service for 1 year

Coordination &Transparency:

  • Partner shall abide to the VAS guideline for MT services
  • Willingness to provide information and desired report (when needed)
  • Willingness to accept a formal partner visit request

2.    Digital Content/Service Sales Service & Requirements

Ethio telecom will deliver digital content sales value added services on two modalities i.e. Demand Based and Subscription Based.

The Digital Content/Service sales which are made through Payment API should fulfill the below criteria for engagement with Ethio telecom partnership

Business License Criteria:

  • Renewed or New Trade License and Registration
  • Renewed or New VAS License
  • TIN Number
  • VAT Certificate
  • House Rent or Proof of Ownership

  • Availing Article and Memorandum of association for share company
  • Letter of agreement from certified professionals or patent right (if needed)

  • Minimum capital amount required for VAS business partnership is ETB 200,000

Number &composition of Employee:

  • Professional IT or Technical
  • Professional Office Administration & Customer Care

  • Staff Resources and brief CV of business & technical staff members
  • The qualification of the management (General Management) 

Service Proposal:

  • Description of the service’s solution and possible benefits
  • Describe the source of potential contents or services
  • Brief description of company profile and business proposal
  • Technical design and integration with Ethio telecom infrastructure
  • Clear description of the service tariff & period
  • Sample prototype of the content or service 

Technical Capacity:

  • Functional website (address, product nature, customer support & subscribe/unsubscribe means)
  • Dedicated IT person that can understand nature of Ethio telecom business, update service & website
  • Potential IT resource (hardware & software solutions) 

Plan & Roadmap:

  • Clearly show the service feature release frequencies and updates consistently
  • Overview of the solution to be provided in partnership with Ethio telecom

Customer Support:

  • Partner shall present a clear and organized team to provide end to end system and operational support
  • One Account Manager
  • Web developing & Maintenance team
  • 24/7 hours customer support with dedicated contact number
  • Present recovery time for some delays or errors if any

Marketing Strategy:

  • Partner marketing promotions strategy
  • Projected Revenue of the service for 3 years

Coordination & Transparency:

  • Partner shall abide to the VAS guideline for MT services
  • Willingness to provide information & desired report (when needed)
  • Willingness to accept a formal partner visit request

Additional mandatory requirements for both MT and API service partnership 

  • Business proposal with brief description of the business to be offered, clear description of content source, clear description of the possible befit of the service, service tariff, sales and marketing strategy and others
  • compliance to VAS service business rules, VAS guideline, contract terms and conditions, revenue share and other hygiene factors
  • Brief description of the service flow, subscription, un-subscription …etc
  • Customer acquisition strategy and roadmap on the number of customer base
  • Detail Business case to show the profitability of the business.
